Wow. Nice try, Apple. I’m quite impressed.

They have this big birthday cake on the iTunes store, with a grammatically uncomfortable statement (Podcasts 5 Turns? Podcasts Turns 5?) along with a list of all the early adopters. Escape Pod is there, as well as Radio Adventures of Dr. Floyd, which I’m thrilled about. But the thing is, podcasts don’t turn five this year. They turn six. Podcasting began in August, 2004 (I became aware of it in October, started my own show in December). iTunes didn’t start supporting it until late June, 2005, which I guess is why they claim that’s when it all started. NOTHING EXISTED BEFORE iTUNES SAID IT DID.
I’ll be honest-maybe I’m just bitter that none of my shows (EP doesn’t count; all long-standing props go to Steve Eley) are on that page. I’ve been bitter before; I’ll fully admit it. But I think I have a legitimate complaint here. I’m proud of EP and Dr. Floyd, but wish Apple would acknowledge that we were busting our asses trying to make people find our RSS feeds long before they woke up.
