Murverse and I Should Be Writing in Exile
I’m sure you’re tired of hearing about my web woes. I sure as hell am tired of having them. I don’t know enough to fix the problems myself. Dreamhost is slow and turning out to be a bit unhelpful at this point in time. I can’t afford a webmaster. Thus, I’m pretty damn close to nuking everything from orbit and starting over. I mean everything; the database, the ISBW...

Cheap pick-me-up →
I was looking at Kiva to see the status of the loans I have there, and I’m looking at the loans available, and suddenly, POP, one goes from “85% funded” to “FULLY FUNDED.” That made me happy. Then another one went. It was awesome. I loan to Kiva when I can, and enjoy introducing others to the site. A loan of $25 can really make a difference, and in most cases, you...

Oh, autocorrect
If I hadn’t been paying attention this morning, my phone would have ‘corrected’ my words to be ‘my cobra is a paperback that pulls on my shoulder machines.’

Done
My second midgrade novel, The Battle For The Girl’s Bathroom, is finished. I’d take a triumphant picture but you don’t wanna see grubby Mur in old sweatshirt. Now to prep for Winterspielfest, 2010.

The More You Know
If you have a water damaged book, put it in the freezer. Services exist to repair them, apparently. Of course, our water damaged books are books, well, we put in the basement because they were deemed unworthy to take up precious shelf real estate. So they’re just a mess to clean up. That said, there are some nice books elsewhere I’d cry if they got water damaged, so now it’s...

Hello, World (update)
Plumber arrived and fixed things. Jim and I discovered how fast hours fly by when you’re going through ruined crap in your basement. A disaster team is here with heavy duty stuff to dry things out. My sad little office heater is boldy saying it did what it could before they got here. Furnace repair still not here. I’m on Twitter and Facebook break. And my sites are still down, so no...

Hello, World
My sites are still down. I Should Be Writing, Murverse, Princess-Scientist, etc, all down for about 15 hours now. A pipe broke. The basement flooded and the new furnace shorted out. We are wet (with no water, very “greek hero punished in Hades”) and cold and moving many soaked boxes of books.  2010, you just had to get your last licks in, huh? Fuck you.

Fantasy vs SciFi
As a SF editor (with a sister fantasy magazine, so genre is pretty rigid), I think about this topic a lot. And I realized something this morning about monsters/tentacled beings/etc: If they’re on another world/in space: science fiction If they’re here on earth: fantasy If they’re overly violent/bloody: horror I’m not sold on the idea, but it seemed… odd but...

Whispers of anxiety
At the dentist with the Pink Tornado. It’s her checkup but I retain fear of dental offices so I’m having all the anxiety.
